into an attraction.

The Schönbrunn Group carries responsibility for a one-of-a-kind cultural heritage.

Around 600 employees at four sites work every day to preserve, shape and carry forward this heritage.

For this task we're looking for open-minded people with a passion for culture and history, who pitch in with a smile.

Frequently asked questions about applying and daily work

Our internal working language is German, so a minimum level of language proficiency (B1) is required. We also offer a language subsidy and internal courses as support. Every additional language is welcome and a real asset - for us and for our guests. Today, our team includes colleagues from 50 nationalities.

Once you've uploaded your application through our online portal, your documents are reviewed carefully. If it's a good match, the relevant department invites you to a personal interview, and you'll hear back from us promptly.

At the Schönbrunn Palace site we host Recruiting Days, which give applicants a particularly authentic first look. A guided walk through the palace gives you a direct feel for what could be your future workplace. Conversations with colleagues on site follow, so you can get a realistic picture of everyday work, tasks and possible challenges. A personal interview afterwards makes space for questions and for getting to know the team lead.

That depends on the role. Our operational areas (guest services, shop, gardens, animal care) have weekend and public-holiday shifts, since our sites are open almost every day of the year. In administration there's a flexitime arrangement with a home-office option.

We're happy to clarify the details in a personal interview. Working hours for each specific role are listed in the relevant job advert.

Shaping imperial cultural heritage.

From imperial legacy to a stage of illustrious hospitality: the Schönbrunn Group cares for historic monuments that give European culture its roots and bring international teams together under their roofs. The variety of people and roles across our palaces and sights is what crowns these extraordinary workplaces. Our way of working puts expertise, team spirit and joy at the centre, so we can offer a one-of-a-kind experience to our guests from all over the world - and preserve and shape our cultural heritage together, every day.

Shaping imperial cultural heritage means, to me:

Keeping historical knowledge alive - through the lectures of our academic department and the exchange with colleagues in curation and restoration.

Irene, People Development & Recruiting

Being part of something special. I help keep the historic rooms and furniture clean and beautiful, so our guests can experience the history.

Kamila, Cleaning and Guest Services

Being mindful, taking good care of the museum's inventory, passing Austrian history on to the next generation - and questioning it critically, too.

Ivana, Guest Services

Making these historic treasures that Prince Eugene and Maria Theresa left us accessible for everyone to visit and experience - that matters a great deal to me.

Angelika, Deputy Head of Guest Services

Getting to work in a place that has been making history for more than 300 years is truly something. And that garden craft is held in such high regard here - that makes me very proud!

Sebastian, Head of Gardens

Respect for cultural heritage and mindful handling of historic objects. My father restored furniture, so I grew up with old, valuable things.

With our wide-ranging training and development portfolio - from internal courses through to subsidised language classes - we want to show you the full potential of your career at the Schönbrunn Group, and shape it together with you.

At the Schönbrunn Group many of our colleagues have taken new steps internally. From shop assistant to head of department. From guest services to accounting.

With the Echocast programme you build skills in guest services, communication and safety. You'll draw on the knowledge of experienced colleagues and external specialists. Through job shadowing you gain insight into other areas and expand your network within the Schönbrunn Group. And with the Mobility Grants programme you have the chance to work at another royal residence in Europe and gain new perspectives.

More about our training and development portfolio

I value the variety of seminars, and the fact that new modules keep coming or that things get improved. We're kept informed and up to date. Internal job listings and the chance to move into other areas - I think that's brilliant!

Anna, Guest Services

I had wonderful and truly instructive days in London at the Historic Royal Palaces. Through the Mobility Grant programme I was able to get to know HR work on site, discuss current organisational challenges and learn from one another!
